Dancing with the Stars of Marietta started in 2014 with the hope of raising awareness of Georgia Metro Dance Theatre (GMDT), housed on the Marietta Square, and also as a means of supporting this wonderful dance company. Now in its 5th year, DWTS is one of the most exciting events held annually at The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre.
Local celebrities train for months and then show off their mad dance skills and vie for the Judge's and People's Choice awards in front of an excited, fun-loving audience. Voting by friends, family, and the community decide the People's Choice award and are also the mechanism used to raise funding.
Your generosity and support of our stars the last 4 years has raised approximately $113,000 for this worthy cause. These funds have been used to help stage three high-quality performances each year costing between $30,000 and $50,000 each. These costs include hiring professional dancers to dance principal roles, provide professional services from lighting and sound technical consultants, leasing the theatre, needed equipment and stage props, as well as the purchase of new costumes, costume repairs, alterations, care and storage.
GMDT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, run almost completely by parent volunteers and supported by the families of our dancers, donations, and ticket sales to performances. Without this support, GMDT would be unable to bring these productions to you each year.

GMDT would like to thank all of its DWTS 2018 dancers and patrons for all of their support.  Your generosity will help this 62 year old dance company continue to provide their three performances in the coming year for all to enjoy.  Please visit GMDT's website for more information about the Company and their upcoming productions.
